What most people don't get is a fight like that won't really take place. Animals are not part of the WWF, they don't do this for fun.
If the croc is too big, the lion will walk away. The only way I can see a fight is if the lion is hunting a croc, and not the other way around. If the croc was to ambush a lion it would do so in the water, in which case the lion will not have a chance. If the lion were to attack a croc on land, my bet goes to the lion. A fully grown male lion can flip an 1100 lb croc over and kill it, it's been done before. But face to face, this fight just won't happen. The croc won't come out on land to challenge the lion unless it had a massive size advantage, in which case the lion would not engage the enemy.

That board is stupid. Most people there are idiots. Hence the birth of this forum. I got fed up trying to explain things to a moron-infested board.

i heard this on discovery boards so could be false but ill post it anyway
Bite: A 600 lb tiger can deliver a 1000 lb bite , or a bite with a force relative to 166% of it's body weight.
A 1500 lb Bear can deliver a 1800 lb bite, or a bite with a force relative to 120% of it's body weight.
Result: At the same weight, a Tigers bite is 39% stronger than the bears.
Swipe: A 600 lb tiger can swipe it's prey with a force of 400 lbs or proportionally, a force relative to 67% of it's body weight.
A 1500 lb bear can swipe it's prey with a force of 1000 lbs or surprisingly, a force relative to 67% of it's body
Result: Dead heat, both animals possess the muscle to deliver similar claw strikes (again with the same weight.
Typical Weights Range Amur Tiger: 400-675 lbs (animal face-off) Brown Bear: 330-794 lbs (zoo.org) Grizzly Bear: 300-600 lbs (animal face-off)
So basically, comparing typical species, a Tiger possesses a more powerful bite than the bear while maintaining parity the bear in the power of it's swipes. In terms of raw strength, you'll find that both animals are very comparable given these factors.
if this is true then bears might not be much stronger

So the bear (1200 lbs) has a bite realtive to 160% of its weight The paw swipe of the bear is 83% of its weight.
So the Grizzly has similar bite wit da tiger regardin to the size, but the paw swipe the bear has more power
