There are no such thing as a "Sabretooth Tiger". That is a common and uneducated name people came up with for Smilodon fatalis.
There have been two types of cats, biting and stabbing. Just like with the regular biting cats, there have been many stabbing cats, of all size ranges.

i knew they weren't called sabre toothed tigers also they are called Sabre Tothed-cats or Smilodon.You can learn this stuff like on animal planet and stuff.

smildon is gonna when, its has a good upperbody strength, and more muscular than the lion, the smilodon probably had the least amount of endurance of all cats, i once saw a show where the smilodon only had enough energy for 10 strides and a pounce, 10 strides plus its assumed 15-20ft jump equals 150-200 ft or 45-60 m, no wonder cuz s. populator was 4 ft at shoulders, and weighed up to 800lbs, so if the smilodon can get on the lion in the first second itll win, otherwise, the lion will last it out and win
